Company Rating Lookup is a self-contained browser tool. It runs entirely on your device and has no backend, no accounts, and no external data pipeline.

1. No Data Collection

This extension collects no personal data, browsing history, or usage telemetry. Nothing about you or your activity is recorded or transmitted to any external server.

2. API Key Storage

If you enter a Google Places API key, it is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local — sandboxed to this extension only. It is used exclusively for direct calls to Google's official Places API endpoints and is never shared with any third party.

3. Background Tab Scraping

Triggering a company lookup opens temporary background tabs to retrieve public ratings from Glassdoor and Google Search. These tabs:

• Load using your existing browser session to ensure page access.
• Extract only the business rating value and review count — nothing else from the page is read or retained.
• Are automatically closed within seconds of the lookup completing.
• Transmit no data outside your browser — results are rendered locally in the ratings card.

4. No Tracking or Analytics

The extension contains no analytics scripts, tracking pixels, cookies, or advertisements. All lookups remain entirely private to your device.
